903 (1/2/2015 - 11/20/2018)

From January 2nd, 2015 to November 20th, 2018; 903 black lives ended at the hands of police brutality.

In my artwork, I hope to inspire people to understand that each and every person has a vivid life, with connections and emotions, just like everyone else. By representing each person with a nail, I created a string of connections to spell out a important phrase from the Black Lives Matter movement.

This piece is large and it demands attention, just as I feel the problem itself does. While I have finished the time frame for the piece, I left it with open spaces to insinuate that this problem, unfortunately, is not over.

My goal for this piece is to put into imagery just how many black lives are lost to police brutality.
